MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools communicate directly with external systems. The Váš Hosting MCP server connects your AI client to hosting management: from Claude, Cursor or another MCP client you can manage domains, DNS records, e‑mail mailboxes, databases and cron jobs right in your workflow, without switching to the administration in your browser.
It is handy for developers and technical teams who work with AI agents or LLM tools and want to bring infrastructure management directly into their process.
With any client that supports the Model Context Protocol. Verified compatibility: Claude (Anthropic), Cursor, Gemini and others. Because it is an open standard, it can also be integrated into your own AI agents and automation workflows.
It depends on which services you have with us.
Regardless of VPS, account management tools are available: listing domains and servers, DNS record management (list, add, edit) and registering new domains. Domain registration goes through the standard registration process, so it is not instant like adding a DNS record.
If you have a server with VPS Center v3, VPS management tools are added: files, cron jobs, databases, e‑mail mailboxes, logs, running processes, installed software and server configuration.
On older versions of VPS Center or on servers without VPS Center, the VPS management tools are not available and are not planned to be added.
No. The connection uses OAuth 2.0 with dynamic client registration (PKCE flow). In practice it looks like this: you add the MCP server URL to your AI client, the client registers itself, the portal sign‑in page opens and after signing in you approve which permissions the application gets and which servers it may connect to. No key is copied or generated by hand.
You can see and revoke connected applications in the portal under Connected applications, where each application also shows its last IP address, the country of access and the number of calls in the last 24 hours.
Permissions are granular. When approving access you see the specific scopes and can restrict which servers the application can reach. Access can be revoked at any time in the portal under Connected applications.
Sign‑in goes through the customer portal with the same protection as the other services. Sensitive values such as passwords or tokens are masked in the internal log. The maximum request size is 1 MB and the maximum tool response size is 5 MB.
The MCP server is part of the portal and free for Váš Hosting customers. Rate limits exist but are set generously for normal use: 1 000 requests per hour per customer, 300 per hour per access token and 600 per hour per IP address. If any of the limits is exceeded, the client gets an HTTP 429 response with a Retry‑After header telling it how long to wait. For a standard developer workflow these limits practically never kick in.
Data is stored exclusively in Czech data centers on the territory of the Czech Republic and does not leave the EU. A data processing agreement (DPA) is a standard part of the Váš Hosting terms and conditions.
VPS management tools over MCP require VPS Center v3. They are not available on older versions. The domain and DNS tools work for all customers regardless of the VPS Center version. If you are not sure which version you have, check it in the portal or get in touch with support.
You are working on a project in Cursor and need to add a DNS record for a new subdomain. Instead of going to the administration you type into Cursor „add an A record for staging.mydomain.com to IP 1.2.3.4“ and the MCP server handles it directly. Or in Claude you ask for a list of databases on a specific VPS and you get the result back into the conversation immediately.
